Enugu Community in Glasgow (ECG) is a Scottish charity that unites people of Enugu State, Nigeria heritage living across Glasgow and the surrounding region. Formally constituted on 5 May 2025 and governed for the public benefit under the oversight of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR), ECG exists to foster unity, preserve cultural identity, and extend mutual support among its members.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple idea: that no one connected to Enugu State should feel alone in Scotland. We exist to strengthen the bond between our adopted home in Scotland and our roots in Enugu State, Nigeria — the “Coal City State” famed for its coal-mining heritage, its warm people, and its rich Igbo and Wawa cultural traditions.

Membership is open to anyone aged 16 and above connected to Enugu State by birth, marriage, naturalisation, association, or adoption. Whether you were born in Enugu, married into an Enugu family, or simply feel a personal connection to our heritage, you are welcome.
The wider community convenes quarterly to sustain momentum and connection throughout the year, alongside our Annual General Meeting and cultural celebrations such as the New Yam Festival.
ECG is governed by a clear, accountable structure designed to keep our charity transparent, democratic and true to its purpose.
Up to nine members responsible for strategic direction, legal compliance and financial oversight of the charity.
Fourteen elected officers — including the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare Officer and Publicity Secretary — who run the community’s day-to-day affairs.
